Thread: New game of the week and group recommendations.
1200704137
If any of you have noticed the other groups that I run, I try to be as democratic as possible. However, a lot of the time there is not much input due to lack of activity at times on GGE. However, it is apparent to me that this group is much more active and so I want to stretch or democratic muscles and try to use this thread to suggest new games of the week and any content that you feel would benefit the group. New ideas are always welcome and if enough people agree will certainly be added to the group's page. Firstly, I would like us to pick a new game of the week though, so without further adieu what say you?
Thread: Games you would like to see on RPG Revolutionaries?

Hey everyone! I was just sitting here thinking of what to add to the Scrying Pool next when it dawned on me: what would you guys like to see next? I know there are a whole crap load of great RPGs coming out and I was wondering which ones you guys would like to see featured, so let me know!
Thread: Profiles that Need Editing.
1199450015
As some of you may know aside from being a member here at GGE I also am the moderator of the Indie Games section here on GGE. Being the moderator for the indie games page I actually have access to all of the profiles on GGE regardless if they are tagged indie or not.A lot of us have noticed that some profiles are in sore need of being updated. (Which gives me an idea: there needs to be some way that a profile that needs updating can be marked for a moderator to alter them in case the person that created the profile isn't around). Anyways, it is needless to say that these profiles need to be changed, so if any of you spot a profile here on GGE that needs to be updated, post it here (or send me a meessage) and I will get to editing it asap :)
Thread: GGE Improvements
1199449719
This thread is dedicated to all the improvements that we would love to see on the GGE. So rant here and we'll all discuss the idea together.
Here are a few of mine:
*Of course the GGE is about the games but what about the platforms that we all love and hate? Don't tell me that you all wouldn't love to see a dedicated page for each console listed on the GGE so we can all write reviews for them. I know I would.
*Searching for friends in the Gamers tab is all well and good but it becomes very tedious. I would like to see a search function that enables us to search for new friends by their interests, activity and membership to like-minded GGE groups.
*Here is a post from the forums I made awhile ago: "A great feature to have would be a GGE Instant Messaging service for subscribers to GGE. This would allow for easier contact between friends and would better enable a person to get to know your friends game interests, hobbies and who they are in general. This I believe would change havi8ng friends from merely acquaintances that you have similar interests with to actual online friends who you chat with on a regular basis to have discussions about the games we all love."
*And here is another one: "I have noticed that the GGE homepage shows the Top Gamers, Games, Reviews and developers....but what about the top groups? I think that this feature should definitely be implemented it would be a great boost to groups that don't have a lot of initial membership and would allow people to see what groups are the most active on the site without having to go to the groups section and sift through the listings. I believe that this feature would boost the group participation rate as well. What does everyone else think?"
*And one more for good measure lol: "I was thinking that due to the fact that many games are released on multiple platforms it is somewhat inefficient to have only one link available for the Buy Now module of a game's profile. I was thinking that perhaps games that are tagged with multiple consoles should have the ability to list multiple links to the various platforms that the game is supported on."
Anyways, sorry for being so long-winded but I just wanted to get the proverbial ball rolling. So discuss! And add some more suggestions!

Thread: Introduce Yourself!
1199448719
Hey there everyone! Minefield and I each thought it would be an excellent idea to create a group dedicated to the GGErs that are still active here on the 'ol GGE. It's been awhile since we saw any site update and until GG turns an eye back toward the GGE we have decided to bring the community together so hopefully there will be one when the site is eventually being updated regularly again.
Anyways, without adieu I give you the Alive and Kickin' Group!
Now, my idea for this thread is pretty self-explanatory: let us know who you are, what you do, just tell us about yourself! I think the main thing about bringing the community together and really make this the "Myspace for gamers" is to bring us together to express our interests/disinterests. So, I will start off here:
My name is Stephen and I am currently a Sophomore in college. At this time my major is Political Science but I have decided to change over to Computer Science instead (politics is just too damn convoluted for me). Mostly I like to play games any more nowadays (college kind of gets in the way of many other things I could be doing) due to the fact that it is much easier to get into a game quickly then say, a book or a movie or some other entertainment related stimuli. My favorite game is and (quite possibly may always be) Morrowind. The thing about this game (even though it is perfectly capable of standing in it's on legs) is the immense variety of mods out there available online in the MW modders community, that for me extends the game well past it's creation by Bethesda and out into uncharted waters. Anyways, needless to say I came to GGE because I think this is a great concept well worth my support and hopefully (one day) the support of the majority of gamers on the internet. Many also know me as the "indie games guy" as I am the guy who runs this little 'ol page here on the GGE:Indie Games Feature Page. Anyways, that's about all I can stand to blab on, so what are you waiting for? Introduce Yourself!

Thread: Introduce Yourself!
1197150828
Well, I am think I am going to try something new now. Since the inception of this group I always (if you hadn't noticed lol) welcome new members in the welcome thread. However, now I want to create this thread so that new members can introduce themselves so we can get to know each other better then "that guy that sometimes types about stuff on that one site's group".
So, anyways, without further adieu I give you the Introduce Yourself thread!
Btw, I guess I'll start it off...
My name is Stephen and I am an aspiring programmer. Right now I am attending college for my degree in Computer Science after which I hope to start making games at least as a part-time endeavor. My favorite types of games are RPGs, RTS, TBS, FPS and Platformer style games with a variety of other stuff thrown in for good measure.
Anyways, that is a little about me....
Now tell us about YOURSELF!

Whenever I try to add some games on the game list it doesn't register the game at all as if it wasn't on GGE. I also cannot add gamelists to any of my groups as well for some unforeseen reason. Please fix this :( I love my gamelists :D

Yeah, that is what I try to do here. I think that as long as there is a dedicated group of individuals contributing to the site then I think that it will only continue to grow (however, we do need some things to take place so things don't become too unwieldy..i.e. a site update).
I am fairly certain though that Garage Games will turn their eye back on the site soon, I understand that they are busy with other projects and sometimes they may not have the staff to expend on GGE until they achieve the end they are working towards at this time. Don't worry everyone, this is just a minor hiccup in the development of this great site and community....GGE is here to stay as long as we the gamers believe in it.

Nah, I didn't think that, I was just saying that I don't know why this was occurring to her. Like I said before, hopefully there will be a site update soon and all of these problems will be fixed. Until then though we can only try to make GGE as vibrant as possible. Here's hoping...

Hmm, I don't know about that...
I am here just about every day, the site is here for me.
I don't know what to tell you about adding games as well, I add games on a regular basis.
Hopefully they will do another overhaul of the site though, it really needs one...

I was thinking that due to the fact that many games are released on multiple platforms it is somewhat inefficient to have only one link available for the Buy Now module of a game's profile. Well, I am sure that they will turn an eye toward GGE soon, don't give up hope yet. All we can do is try to make the community here as vibrant as we possibly can and hopefully we will incite more attention toward the GGE site. Personally I think this site is one of the best ideas I have seen in years and it would be a shame if something like this was wasted. I believe that the staff are doing their best and will eventually return to the 'ol GGE :)
Thread: Favorite B-Game?
1193941423
I don't know if you guys have checked out all the entries for the TIGS B-Game Competition, if you haven't go ahead and check out the GGE Indie Games Feature Page, where I have provided links to all the entries.
There was some really great stuff that game out of the competition and I just got to thinking what everyone here thought was their favorite B-Game. I would have to go with the 100 & 1 Klik and Play Pirate Kart. The shear amount of variety is what really cemented this one for me, it really reminded me of a B-Game version of Warioware. Anyways, check out the games if you haven't :)

Yeah, it'll be awhile before Pokemon Online s playable. I downloaded it some time ago and found that the servers were never up. Great concept though, I would love to battle people online with Pokemon in an open ended environment akin to the Gameboy versions....
Post: #6656 in Nintendo's Wii Ware
1190739886
Personally I am looking forward to WiiWare very much. There remains to be seen several factors however that could hamper the idea such as Nintendo's history with 3rd party developers, I have heard that developers will pretty much need some sort of official office which would of course leave out many "indie" developers who home brew their games.
On the note of indie games I have to disagree with you Justin, while many people may over emphasize the impact of indie games, it is however a place where developers are only constrained by their imagination. Indie games,I believe, prove that a game can be built up solely around gameplay rather then graphics, and still be fun and played by many people (think about Rogue-likes with their crazy amount of actions and highly minimized graphics graphics).
I am with Mr. Web on this one...I would love to see a "Youtube of gaming". Let's just hope that Nintendo will pull it off...

Hey everyone! I recently just purchased a rocking skin for my Wii....it's the same skin that is the photo for the group (the retro NES skin....yeah, it kicks ass!). Thread: What is your favorite indie game so far?
1189576166
I've been playing indie games for a little while now and have found some really great stuff and it got me to thinking about what the best game I have played so far is. For me I would have to say it would be The Battle for Wesnoth. It is just a damn good game, I love the online multiplayer and the crazy variety of available campaigns and there is also a healthy dose of add ons available as well. So what is your guy's favorite game so far?

Thread: Wii Flash Games!
1189059351
I don't know about you guys but when I first got my Wii online I was like,"man, I bet I could play flash games in the browser." Yes, I played some, however, as some of you may have tried it out as I did, you only have so many games you can play due to the fact that the Wiimote can only function as a mouse without the benefit of a keyboard. Well, if you don't already know there is a site dedicated to Wii compatible flash games! Yeah, I'm stoked:) There are actually sone pretty good games out there(like the original Duck Hunt, which rocks by the way) oops, I forgot to mention the site (sorry, I am typing this on my Wii and my thoughts are compacted into the two line segments they give you to type on the Wii) anyways the site is Wii Playable. Enjoy:)

Post: #6307 in Reviews...
1187088300
Well, I see gameplay as being how well the game's controls respond and how well the individual elements in the game function. I think fun factor can also be separated from replay value because a game may be fun for the first few times but it might not necessarily be worth playing again after a certain amount of time. I do agree with you on the music and story however I think that there should be a separate rating on the game's in-game music and the story on the whole, this I believe would provide the person reading the review with a much more well rounded analysis of the game. However, I think that adding more elements to the reviews may change how many reviews are completed and how in-depth they are because people may not want to wade through an extended set of options for reviews. I have an idea though: maybe reviews can be classified as "beginner" and "advanced" much like the way that games can be added? Anyways, I think that these are some good suggestions for reviews and should be take into consideration, props to you Vincent:)

Sean Sullivan said,
Excellent idea Skaldicpoet9! This is something we've been tossing around for a little while. Continue to develop any wishes and desires here! =)
Thanks, Sean. I think that it should still be along the lines of a regular GGE page (modules, comments and reviews). It would be cool if the platform icons on our profiles would link to the platform's profile. There are a plethora of platforms that could be posted and reviewed. My only question would be: how would PCs, if at all, be implemented into a idea like this? There are so many different PCs out there that the amount of PCs would be overwhelming but as a PC gamer I feel that leaving it out would be leaving out another platform. Alas, I don't think that PC profiles could really work, eventually you would have hundreds of PCs on the page which would seem to me to be quite counter-intuitive. Maybe a lone PC recommendations page where people post comments and reviews of a multitude of PCs all on one page with links to the PC that the reviewer analyzed in their reviews and/ or their comments on a "PC page"? I believe this page should be maintained by the GGE staff or a moderator (to eliminate excess PC related pages) with the ability of the people that post to be able to add links/ pics and modules in their individual reviews. The profile could be multi-paged to include all of the components that make up a gaming PC as well: video cards, sound cards etc...The only thing that I would be worried about would be people posting PC systems using the ability to add new consoles, that is why I think that the PC page should be maintained by a GGE staff or moderator. Adding new platforms on GGE should be exclusively regaled to listing consoles, additions of PCs would be restricted...

i think it would get too muddied up with fanboyism
And reviews of games don't? If gamers can be trusted with review the games that they may be partially biased to (there are many too....Zelda, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear etc..), then why can't they be trusted to fairly review a platform? I mean, I think most people will try to give a decent review on their console (I was on the XBox360 forums and even they were willing to admit the faults of the XBox360...)I would anyways. I am merely interested in giving a good review for the sake of those out there who are browsing the platform market. Besides, it is not a very large demographic that are "fanboys", yes, they exist and are numerous but I don't believe they could inundate the GGE page sufficiently enough to "muddy" the reviews with biased "fanboyism".
Thread: Console Page for Reviews of Platforms....
1186404430
I was just thinking that we have all these games that we are reviewing and commenting on, creating pages for.....but what about the platforms used to play them on? Is it just me, or would it be awesome if there could be a page for say, the Wii or the Xbox360 etc...for gamers to review the actual system itself? For me this would be an important feature if I was looking for a potential console. GGE members could rate the platforms just as they would rate games on GGE, and there would be links provided to the purchase of the various platforms online and related websites. The pages would essentially be setup just like a regular GGE page with modules and the like. I suggest a separate category in the games section: "Are we missing something? Add a Platform!"(alike to the "add a game" button of course). Who is with me on this?
Thread: WiiWare rocks! What games do you want to see?

Hey everyone I just posted a story about the WiiWare announcement that Nintendo made. Hopefully it is what it seems and Nintendo is going to allow a good number of indie developers access to the Wii to create new and original independent games exclusively for the Wii. My question is: what do you hope to see come out for WiiWare? Mine would have to be Joakim Sandberg's Chalk I think this game was made for the Wii personally, man it would be awesome! Imagine using the Wiimote instead of a mouse.....anyways what do you guys want to see?

Hey everyone:) I was just wondering what everyone thought of the new Fallout game that is coming out. I realize that the fans of the original are quite apprehensive (I know you are Killbot lol) but what are your wishes and expectations and your biggest fears? I would have to say that I am interested in seeing what Bethesda can do with it (but I am one of those people who think that a sequel should be by the original team...) it does look like Bethesda is staying very true to the original while adding in some stuff that may or may not appeal to fans of the series now....so what does everyone think?

Russell Fincher said,
The new UI for the gamelist editing is somewhat confusing... and may not be working. So to add a game that's already entered into GGE, you type that game's name into the "Add Games Manually" entry field? Then what? There's no "OK" or "add game" button to put it in your list. There's "Add Captions", but that doesn't seem to add the new game to the gamelist.
When you type in the game into the manually add games field you should then see a window that opens under your entry giving you a list of games with a similar title with the game that you are attempting to add. After you find your game you just have to click on the title with your mouse and it should add it to the gamelist to the right of the manually add field. If you still are having problems it may be a problem with your browser or something else, I just went into the game lists on my profile and double checked and I can add games just fine...Hope this helps you...

I too have thought the same thing....some game I have seen that are in development are un-ratable (except for anticipation rating) but others have not come out and and are being rated which will really screw with the games rating whenever it does finally come out. I too suggest that in-development and un-released games should not be reviewed or rated (excepting of course the anticipation rating of the game and the comments about the game).
