Is it just me who gets annoyed when a web game has "Xbox 360, Windows, Mac, Linux, PSP, Nintendo DS, BeOS, Playstation 3, Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo Wii, Cell Phone Phone" as platform tags?

Just realised that you might be able to do something with music playing using google widgets. I haven't tried making one of those google widget things, but since you can embed them in your profile, I bet you can make one and make it play music. :)

Yeah, I agree. MySpace is a horrible place, and auto-playing music in any shape or form is bad. Really. It's like people don't remember the early days of the web and all the background midis anymore.

Sorry, I lied. Trying to access the Options gives a blank page, trying to access the ranks gives you the GGE "shell" (nav bar, side bar, footer), and "Hello!" in the content area. Changing the description seems to work just fine.

And on a related note, I can't access the rank settings in the Free Games group I started. I just get a blank page with nothing at all in it.

The nav bar looks different when on the forums compared to watching the other parts of the site though. When you're on the forums you get "Home" instead of the little home icon, and you don't get links to the gamelist and help pages.

I've understood "Intangibles" to be a kind of 'miscellaneous'/'things you can't quite put your finger on but affect your opinion of the game'. But it looks like the other three are easy enough to understand, no?

Personally I think it'd be better to just have those score things gone all together. If you're writing a proper review (and not the "OMG this si teh beast gaem evar" things) you'll be explaining what your views are on those things anyway.

Well, as long as you don't type any illegal characters in the browser. Or have a keyboard layout which makes you type an acute accent instead of an apostrophe (I know there are a few that do that).

I'm guessing it's because instead of normal, straight apostrophes you were re using an accent acute, and instead of straight quotation marks, you're using the ones which tilt to the left or right. Basically, as soon as you go beyond the very basics of a-z and 0-9, you're entering dangerous territory, because GGE doesn't like that.

Would it be a good idea to make "flash" into a platform tag?

It seems to me that platform tags tells you what you need to run a game, and the other tags tell you what kind of game it is. When you've got a flash game, you really just need something with a flash player, the hardware you have isn't really important. Same for other kind of web platforms, like shockwave, java, and other browser-based games, like Kingdom of Loathing (which I think requires a browser with javascript enabled). Perhaps a "web" platform tag?

Well, most of the duplicate game entries are gone, since I've asked those who've made them nicely to delete them. There are some left though, you can see the list here (there might be more of course, but those are the ones I've found). In case anyone worries, I've been in touch with all the people who've made those entries (who either haven't felt like answering, or just haven't logged on in a while), and I've just moved all modules to inactive, and not deleted any text or pictures. There are some comments and reviews on a few of the games, so merging would be preferrable to deleting.

Also, there is Evil 5 and EVIL5. But there the developer has made one, and the place he studies at has made one, and they don't want to delete either, or make one a contributor to the other as far as I understood it.

Okay, so I know I've mentioned this before, but at some point it would be really nice to have some way to suggest mergers and redirects.

Having two entries for one game isn't great, especially now with all the gamelists popping up, it's even worse if both entries have a lot of ratings, comments, and reviews. In such cases it would be so much nicer to be able to merge the two entries, so all ratings, comments, and reviews are preserved.

And a redirect system would be nice as well, for all those games who've been published under multiple titles (Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy, etc.), and again, all games where duplicates keep getting made ("counter strike", "counter-strike", "counterstrike", etc.), so people land on the right place, even if they got the name wrong.

The new Play Now and Download buttons that are right under the game icon on the game page don't check whether the download and/or flash modules are active or inactive. So you get Download buttons for game pages which have inactive download modules.

Feel free to go back in time and look closer yourself.

I can't say for sure when it comes to Space Trader or Prism, but N and Flow have been up there since the beginning, and Hellgate London 16b was only featured after it got lot of GGE community attention.

There's a difference between indie and hobby though. From your post it almost sounds like you think that indie is anything that is not being sold.

I don't see a problem with the mix. Also, the top five most viewed games on the main Games page are all indie games, so apparently some manage to get themselves seen.
