I am creating a game and looking to write the music myself. I *used* to be a fairly good musician and played both piano and guiter but it's been a while and my skills arent up to snuff. what software, websites, samples, etc are people using for music creation when they don't want to do the actual performance themselves? long ago i used programs like Impulse Tracker, but im not sure what the latest and greatest is. thanks, adam -- "No army can withstand the power of an idea whose time has |

fruity loops for most utter novices, but you'd never, ever, EVER find fl studio in a professional environment, ever. if you did, you should probably quit that job. So a lot of people use stuff like ACID, and just pump in midis through a little music box or usb or however the cables work. money is 9 times out of 10 invovled. -- |

i'd browse around source forge, great site for open source stuff. you can find all sorts of media creation apps around there. -- i like pie! |

If it's a tracker you're looking for, you could do worse than REAPER. If you want to do some kind of music synthesis, you could give Buzz Machines a whirl. Or Pd if you're into both programming and music. -- Visit my profile today, it is completely free! :D |

If you have some money to throw away (since the software is pricey), get Sonar Cakewalk Pro to create/edit music. As far as Sound Fonts go, from what I know, Giga-samples are the best... There are "better" programs than Sonar, but I believe it is only for OSX and it is very, VERY, very pricey. ^_^ -- "Why do I need a 'follow' button?" - Peter Molyneux |

I have used fruity loops on 3 "professional" album projects where the artist created the music and I pre mixed and bussed it out to be mixed later in ProTools. I have also used it to mix completed tracks. Fruity loops works just fine. They are all just different flavors. -- I'm older than I look |

How would you compare Fruityloops to Sonar Cakewalk Pro (out of curiosity, I'm not disagreeing you on what you said, since I agree that they are simply tools)? -- "Why do I need a 'follow' button?" - Peter Molyneux |

adam schepis said, Adam can you make your question clearer ? It sounds like you may be looking for music that is already completed and ready to put in your game ... ? what software, websites, samples, etc are people using for music creation when they don't want to do the actual performance themselves? -- I'm older than I look |

If you're on a Mac, youcan use Logic Pro, which is GREAT. You could also use GarageBand for a much simpler piece. I myself use both. -- "Can you handle it?" |

A-man I was on this site www.jamstudio.com where you make all your own music for free. Some dude on the forum said he used it for his movie. Maybe that will work. Check it out. RogerDodger -- Rock on, Mr. Rogers! |
